C9 Hotelworks Sessions Reveal Taxation Trends in Thailand’s Hotel License Regime at HOMA, Phuket
10 June 2024
Phuket, Thailand – On May 31, C9 Hotelworks hosted a 90-minute learning session at HOMA Cherngtalay, diving into Thailand’s hotel license regime for various property types, including branded residences and vacation rentals. The event drew numerous industry leaders.
Paul Ashburn from HLB Thailand presented on "Vacation Rental Tax Primer for Owners and Operators," highlighting that wealthy Southeast Asian families view higher taxation as a major risk over the next five years, surpassing concerns like climate change. His talk also covered Thailand's income tax system and recent tax authority focus on vacation homes in Phuket.
Foreign property investors facing a 15% withholding tax on rental income might qualify for a refund when filing tax returns, potentially lowering their overall tax burden and boosting ROI.
Thanks to Bill Barnett and the C9 Hotelworks team, the session provided valuable insights into the evolving vacation rental market in Phuket.
